The Anambra Central People’s Forum has commended Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene, the NDC candidate for the Idemili North/South Federal Constituency election in 2027, following his reported intervention in the gully erosion crisis affecting parts of Obosi community in Anambra State.

The forum, a registered non-partisan organisation representing the interests of communities across the seven local government areas in Anambra Central Senatorial District, said Anyamene’s response to the erosion problem demonstrated the importance of addressing community challenges with practical action.

In a statement issued in Ogidi, the organisation said the erosion had posed a prolonged threat to residents, roads, homes and economic activities in parts of Obosi.

According to the forum, residents had repeatedly raised concerns over the advancing erosion, which it said had continued to undermine infrastructure and create safety risks in the affected areas.

The organisation said Anyamene responded by mobilising engineering equipment, funding and stabilising materials to the site in an effort to contain the erosion.

It described the intervention as a direct response to an immediate community problem, saying the work had helped to check the spread of the erosion and improve safety around the affected area.

“We are not just witnessing a project; we are witnessing a rescue mission,” said Hon. Chief (Sir) Chukwuma Mbelu, spokesperson and head of the forum’s Public Relations Desk.

Mbelu said the intervention had added to Anyamene’s record of community engagement ahead of the 2027 election.

“While others make promises for the future, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene is already delivering legislative-grade intervention from his personal resources and network,” he said.

The forum argued that the response to the Obosi erosion crisis offered an indication of how Anyamene could approach representation if elected to the House of Representatives.

It said his ability to mobilise resources in response to an environmental and infrastructure challenge showed a willingness to engage directly with issues affecting residents.

The organisation also urged voters in the Idemili North/South Federal Constituency to examine the records and community activities of candidates as the 2027 election approaches.

It said voters should place emphasis on verifiable community impact, capacity and responsiveness rather than campaign rhetoric.
