Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for Kano State in the 2027 election and former deputy governor of the state, has chosen Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

Mustapha Kwankwaso, son of former Kano governor and prominent Kwankwasiyya Movement leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, previously served as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports. During his tenure, he supervised youth-focused programmes and sports development projects across the state.

The announcement was conveyed on Monday through a statement issued by Habibu Saleh Mailemo, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo is a long-serving political figure in Kano politics with experience in public administration and state governance. His selection of Mustapha Kwankwaso as deputy candidate places two figures with established ties to Kano’s political structure on the NDC ticket.

Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso joins the ticket following his earlier role in the state executive council, where he handled youth and sports development portfolios.
