Nollywood actress Judy Austin has filed a N1 billion defamation lawsuit against her colleague and co-wife, Rita Edochie, over statements she alleges were defamatory and damaging to her reputation.
Judy filed the suit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, through a Writ of Summons.
In the suit, the actress is seeking N1 billion in general damages from Rita over the alleged defamatory statements.
Judy is also asking the court to order Rita to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and on her social media platforms.
She further wants the court to compel Rita to remove the alleged defamatory statements from all online platforms and stop publishing or circulating similar statements about her.
In addition, Judy is seeking N50 million as the cost of prosecuting the case.
According to the court document, Rita has 30 days from the date of service of the writ to enter an appearance in the suit, either personally or through a legal practitioner.
