Eight Tunisia players have reportedly tested positive for a banned substance following doping controls conducted during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the *Daily Mail*, the players are believed to have unknowingly consumed clenbuterol after eating contaminated meat during the tournament. Clenbuterol is prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Agency's anti-doping regulations.
The report stated that the substance may have entered the players' systems through meat from livestock treated with clenbuterol, a drug that is still used as a growth promoter in some countries, including Mexico. Cases of accidental contamination linked to contaminated meat have been reported in the past.
The development comes shortly after Tunisia's disappointing World Cup campaign, in which the North African side lost all three of its group-stage matches and exited the tournament without earning a point.
There has been no official statement from the Tunisian Football Federation or FIFA regarding the reported positive tests.
