Nigerian content creator and social media personality, Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has denied reports that he recently got married, claiming that the viral wedding videos and photos circulating online were generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
The influencer reacted to the reports after images and clips showing him dressed in traditional wedding attire alongside a woman surfaced online. The footage, which appeared to show a traditional marriage ceremony in Minna, Niger State, quickly spread on social media, with some users congratulating him while others accused him of abandoning his previous views on marriage.
In a video shared online, GehGeh dismissed the reports, alleging that the development was an attempt by critics to damage his image because of his controversial opinions on relationships.
“Nothing wey Nigerian women never do take bring me down. Na AI. Una wan come edit me into marriage. I am now a married man. AI thank you for organizing marriage on my behalf,” he said in Pidgin English.
Before making the AI claim, the influencer had earlier suggested that he was only representing a family member at the ceremony. He wrote in a social media post: “So I no fit represent my brother wey dey abroad?”
The explanation did not stop the speculation, as more videos from the event continued to circulate online.
GehGeh also rejected claims that the alleged marriage contradicted his previous statements, insisting that he had never advised people against getting married.
“I never for once told y’all not to get married. Did I? If yes, show me a video of me telling you not to marry,” he wrote.
The controversy has sparked discussions online about the increasing difficulty of identifying AI-generated content and the need for users to verify information before accepting viral posts as genuine.
While some followers have supported GehGeh’s explanation, others remain unconvinced, arguing that the footage appeared authentic.
