Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi, husband of Anulika Nwokike, the woman arrested in Anambra State over alleged sexual abuse of her children to produce pornographic content, has said he was unaware of what was happening.
Onyeanyusi, speaking in a video circulating online, said he was shocked when he first learned about the allegations involving his wife and their children.
He said he was usually away from home attending to his business and had no knowledge of his wife’s alleged activities.
“I was not aware of the video until a friend showed it to me in the market,” he said.
According to him, he immediately rushed home and confronted his wife after seeing the video.
He said his wife initially denied the allegations and claimed the videos had been generated using artificial intelligence.
“I rushed home and confronted my wife, but she denied it, saying they were AI videos,” he said.
Onyeanyusi said police officers later arrived at the house and arrested members of the household, including him.
He explained that he only became aware of the seriousness of the allegations when his wife was questioned at the police station.
“As I was pushing further, police arrived and arrested all of us, including me,” he said.
“It was at the police station, while she was being interrogated in the DPO’s office, that I was called in and told she had confessed.”
The husband said the development came as a shock to him and expressed sadness over the alleged abuse of the children.
He also appealed to members of the public and relevant authorities to support the affected children as they begin the process of recovering from the alleged abuse.
The case has generated widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians calling for the protection of the children and appropriate action against those responsible.
The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has commenced measures to ensure that the affected children receive psychological, welfare and protective support.
The ministry also commended members of the community who provided information that enabled authorities to intervene.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, reaffirmed the Anambra State Government’s commitment to protecting children and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse and exploitation.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the allegations and take appropriate legal action based on the findings.
