The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise, with vacancies available across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
According to information published on the commission's recruitment portal, the application window opened on July 20 and will close on July 27, 2026.
INEC said the recruitment is aimed at strengthening its workforce in areas such as electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics and data management.
Applicants are required to complete their applications online by creating an account on the recruitment portal and uploading all necessary documents before the deadline.
The commission also stated that the exercise is free of charge and warned candidates against submitting false information or forged documents, noting that offenders will be disqualified and may face prosecution.
Available Positions
The vacancies are grouped into three categories:
Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)
INEC is recruiting for positions including:
* Accountant
* Clinical Officer
* Lawyer
* ICT Officer
* Engineer
* Quantity Surveyor
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Some positions may require a master's degree in a relevant field. Professional certifications such as NBA, COREN, NSE, NIQS, ICAN, ANAN or CPN may also be required, alongside at least two years of post-qualification experience and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate analytical, communication, problem-solving and ICT skills.
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) – Grade Level 08
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or an equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution.
They must also possess an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate and have competence in data management, record keeping and the use of Microsoft Office and other ICT tools.
Executive Officer (Registration Officer) – Grade Level 07
Candidates must possess a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent. Basic computer proficiency, data handling skills and good communication and organisational abilities are also required.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
* Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
* Possess a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government.
* Be certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer.
* Have no criminal conviction.
* Be willing to work in any part of Nigeria.
* Demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
