The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has directed all its branches across Nigeria to end church programmes by 8:00pm and suspend vigils and overnight services until further notice due to security concerns.

The directive was conveyed in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, and signed by the church's Director of Administration at its international headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.

According to the memo, all church services, meetings and related activities must conclude no later than 8:00pm. The church also announced the suspension of vigils and overnight prayer programmes nationwide.

MFM stated that where night prayers are considered necessary, they should be converted to evening prayer sessions and must end on or before the stipulated closing time.

The church said the measures were introduced as a precaution to protect members amid the country's security challenges.

“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the memo stated.

The directive applies to all levels of the ministry, with ministers, departments and church groups instructed to comply fully.

The memo was distributed to Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, zonal pastors and branch pastors for immediate implementation.

The decision comes as concerns continue to grow over insecurity in several parts of the country, including incidents of kidnapping, banditry and attacks on rural communities.
