Comoros’ women’s national team delivered a dominant performance over Sudan, winning 30–0 on aggregate across two legs in the first round of qualifying for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Coelacanths opened the tie with a 17–0 victory on 3 June, before completing the job with a 13–0 win in the return leg on 8 June. In the first match, Comoros scored early and maintained constant pressure, with nine different players registering goals. Sudan were unable to contain repeated attacking waves throughout the contest.

The second leg followed a similar pattern. Comoros led 3–0 at halftime and added ten more goals after the break to complete the sweep.

The result sends Comoros into the next round against Nigeria Super Falcons, who enter the fixture as clear favourites given their record in African women’s football.

Nigeria, which recently defeated Senegal women's national football team 3–0 in a friendly at Remo Stars Stadium, will prepare for the qualifying tie scheduled between 5 and 13 October 2026.

Only two African teams will earn places in the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
