The Federal Government has released video footage from the security operation that led to the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The footage, released by security authorities, captures scenes from the coordinated operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies that secured the victims' freedom after 56 days in captivity.
The release comes after many Nigerians on social media called on the government to provide evidence of the rescue operation following the announcement that all the victims had been freed.
According to official statements, the intelligence-led operation targeted the kidnappers' network in the Old Oyo National Park and other locations, leading to multiple arrests and the eventual release of the victims without payment of ransom.
The video offers a rare glimpse into the frontline efforts of troops and other security personnel who took part in the operation, which authorities described as one of the country's most coordinated counter-kidnapping missions in recent months.
