The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Dare Bejide, has lost his polling unit in the Ekiti State governorship election to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

At Unit 4, Ward 2, Ekiti Southwest Local Government Area in Ilawe-Ekiti, early voting was briefly disrupted by reports of attempted vote trading and tension among supporters. Security personnel were deployed to the area and restored order, allowing voting to continue.

The Commissioner of Police overseeing the exercise, Abayomi Shogunle, who visited the polling unit, said the incidents did not significantly affect the process. He described them as minor disruptions commonly seen in competitive elections.

Collated results from the unit showed APC with 140 votes, while ADC scored 37. Other parties recorded lower figures: AAC polled 2 votes, PDP 1 vote, and APGA and ADP secured 1 vote each.

Across other polling units in Ilawe-Ekiti, APC also maintained a clear lead. At Unit 7, Ward 1 in the Ilupe community, APC recorded 70 votes against ADC’s 15. In Unit 12, Ward 1, Owaosun/Tedio area, APC polled 57 votes, ADC 10, PDP 4, and ADP 1. At Unit 1, Ward 1 inside St. Angela’s Catholic School, APC scored 88 votes, PDP 14, ADC 4, while 9 votes were voided.

Supporters of the APC were seen gathering at different locations in Ilawe-Ekiti as early results filtered in.
