Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued 10 people abducted by suspected kidnappers in different parts of the state.

The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the victims were freed during coordinated operations carried out in forest areas of Akure North Local Government Area and other affected communities.

Among those rescued was Fagbonmire Durojaiye, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a teacher. The other victims were identified as Muhammad, Moses Keke, Ijojo, Emeka Ngo, Fagbamie, Akata, and three others identified simply as Sefanu, Kabiru, and Saradin.

Adeleye said none of the victims' families paid ransom, despite reports that the kidnappers had demanded N30 million for their release.

According to him, intelligence gathered by the corps led operatives to the kidnappers' hideout deep inside the forest, where they engaged the suspects in a gun battle.

"Following the exchange of fire, the criminals were forced to flee, enabling our operatives to secure the release of all the victims," Adeleye said.

He added that the rescue operation took place within 24 to 48 hours after the corps paraded 46 suspected kidnappers arrested across the state.

Adeleye said the security outfit returned to the forests immediately after the arrests to sustain pressure on criminal groups operating in the area.

"We made a promise that our men would return to the forests, and we did. As a result, we rescued a total of eight kidnap victims in Akure North Local Government Area and other parts of the state," he said.

The Olu of Ilado, Oba Ifedayo Ademira, commended the Ondo State Government and the Amotekun Corps for the operation. The monarch said he remained in constant contact with the corps commander throughout the rescue effort and expressed relief that all the abducted victims were returned safely.
