The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects over an alleged plot to murder a citizen and take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, on the evening of August 12, 2026.
The operation was conducted based on intelligence gathered under the strategic policing approach of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.
The suspects were identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37. They were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi.
Police authorities said two firearms and live ammunition were recovered during the operation.
According to the command, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly connected to a plan to kill a citizen and subsequently take control of his landed properties.
The police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the alleged conspiracy, determine the roles of the four suspects and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face prosecution after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police said the arrests underscored the importance of the command’s intelligence-led policing strategy, which focuses on identifying criminal threats early, disrupting planned attacks and preventing the loss of lives and property.
