The management of Nigerian dancer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has denied reports that drink-spiking is part of the charges against him in the United Kingdom.
The clarification followed reports about the dancer’s upcoming court appearance at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
The court confirmed to *TheCable Lifestyle* on Tuesday that Poco Lee is scheduled to appear on September 15 for plea and trial preparation.
James Baker, the court’s administrative team lead, said the case is listed before one of the court’s 20 courtrooms.
According to the court, Poco Lee faces one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Poco Lee’s management said it was concerned about what it described as “a volume of unverified narratives” surrounding the case, particularly claims that drink-spiking was included in the charges.
The management said the allegation does not form part of the charges before the court and urged the public and media not to circulate details that are not contained in the case.
“We are particularly concerned by the volume of unverified narratives currently circulating, including claims referencing ‘drink spiking’, amongst other allegations which do not form part of any of the allegations or charges before the court,” the statement said.
The team added that spreading unverified claims could fuel misinformation and create unfair prejudice against the parties involved.
It said further information on the case would be communicated through Poco Lee’s official channels when appropriate.
