Police in Hampshire have arrested a 31-year-old man following a single-vehicle crash involving a Lamborghini on the M3 southbound near the Minley Interchange.

The driver has been identified as Raheem Sterling, a former England international. Officers said the vehicle struck motorway barriers shortly before 9am on Thursday morning. No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were recorded.

According to Hampshire Police, the arrest was made on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug, and failing to provide a specimen. The suspect was later released on bail while enquiries continue.

Sterling’s representatives have not issued a statement.

The incident comes during a turbulent phase in his professional career. Sterling began his top-flight journey at Liverpool FC before a high-profile move to Manchester City FC, where he won multiple domestic titles. He later joined Chelsea FC in a major transfer deal but struggled to secure a regular place.

A subsequent loan spell at Arsenal FC followed, before a move abroad to Feyenoord Rotterdam, where his playing time was limited.

Sterling has earned 82 caps for England, with his last appearance coming at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
