Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu, has died after a prolonged illness, family sources have confirmed.
Aliyu, who served as deputy governor to former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari between 2007 and 2015, reportedly passed away in Sokoto.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed sadness over the death, describing it as a major loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor described Aliyu as a respected leader whose career was defined by public service, integrity and commitment to the people.
Governor Idris said the late deputy governor made significant contributions to the state’s development during his years as a civil servant and political office holder.
He added that Aliyu’s humility, honesty and dedication to duty earned him the respect of many across Kebbi State.
“His invaluable contributions to the development of our state and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of our people will continue to inspire generations,” the governor said.
Governor Idris prayed for the repose of Aliyu’s soul and extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State.
