The management of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has suspended two students over their alleged involvement in the circulation of a private video linked to the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), James Iyanuoluwa Adio.

In a notice published on the institution’s website on Friday, the university said the students were suspended with immediate effect while investigations continue.

The affected students, Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel, were accused of distributing a private recording of the SUG president online.

According to a statement signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Tajudeen Opoola, who is currently serving as Acting Vice-Chancellor, the pair were said to have acted in a coordinated manner after alleged financial disagreements with the student leader.

The university stated that the action amounted to cyberbullying and a breach of conduct, adding that it would not tolerate behaviour capable of damaging its reputation.

It also noted that disciplinary procedures are ongoing as part of efforts to address misconduct within the institution.

The SUG president, James Iyanuoluwa Adio, had earlier been suspended over allegations of extortion involving students.
