At least seven people were killed and two others injured after gunmen attacked a commercial bus at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Sunday when the gunmen reportedly opened fire on the vehicle as the driver stopped at the junction to drop off passengers.
One of the identified victims was Ibrahim, the bus driver, who was reportedly killed in the attack. He was said to be a resident of Bukuru in Jos South.
Two other victims, identified as a fish seller and an orange seller, reportedly survived the attack and are receiving treatment. Both are also residents of Bukuru.
Five of the identified victims were reportedly residents of Kuru, while a minor was among those who survived the incident.
The attack has heightened tension in the area, with residents raising concerns about the safety of commuters, traders and other road users around the Kuru axis.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified information as security agencies work to restore calm and identify those responsible for the attack.
