The announcement confirms the exit of Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Placid, who had held the position for about three months following his appointment shortly after Olatunji Disu assumed office as the 23rd Inspector General of Police.
Placid acknowledged the change when contacted, responding in a brief message that he had been redeployed. He did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the decision.
“The replacement has been confirmed in a terse text response,” he said when reached for comment.
Police sources at Force Headquarters said Placid has been reassigned to the Lagos Command, where he will head the Finance and Administration unit. The reassignment has not been formally explained by the leadership of the force.
The new appointee, CSP Iniedu Okokon, is expected to take over official communications for the force immediately, although no transition timeline has been publicly released.
