The Bayelsa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Governor Douye Diri to embrace inclusive governance and focus on policies that improve the lives of residents rather than political considerations.

Speaking with journalists in Yenagoa, the party's State Chairman, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, alleged that attempts were being made to lure NDC aspirants with financial incentives to create division within the party.

He said such efforts would not weaken the party's resolve ahead of the 2027 political contest.

"No form of inducement can divert the NDC from its objective of assuming leadership in Bayelsa State."

Ikuromo advised the state government to channel available resources toward addressing pressing development challenges instead of political activities.

He specifically pointed to the state's commissioned but non-operational gas turbines, saying government attention should be directed at making such projects functional.

The NDC chairman also dismissed concerns over reported grievances within the party, stating that a dispute resolution mechanism had already been established under the leadership of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

According to him, the party's National Executive Council will release the list of candidates for various positions within the timeline stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ikuromo commended Dickson for his conduct during the party's primary elections, describing his leadership as fair and impartial.

"Senator Henry Seriake Dickson managed the primary election process with fairness, tact and wisdom, ensuring equal opportunities for all aspirants."

He further praised the party's commitment to increasing the participation of women and young people in its primaries, describing the initiative as consistent with the principles of affirmative action and inclusive political participation.

The NDC chairman called on party members and supporters across Bayelsa State to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

"We remain focused on our objective of taking over governance in Bayelsa, and no form of inducement will distract us from that goal."
