Intelligence-linked air operations under Operation HADIN KAI have led to the killing of several senior terrorist figures and dozens of fighters in the Lake Chad region, according to security sources.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on Wednesday via his official X account that the strikes were carried out on May 31 in the Kirta and Arina Ciki areas. The targets were described as established militant hideouts and supply nodes identified through recent intelligence gathering.

Military sources cited in the report said post-operation assessments confirmed the deaths of multiple high-ranking figures, including Khalifa Umar, identified as a member of the group’s Shura Council from Sigir, as well as two field commanders, Abdallah and Abduljalil.

Overall, more than 50 fighters were reportedly killed in the operation.

The strikes also destroyed storage sites, logistics installations, and structures used for coordination and resupply. Officials say the damage has disrupted the group’s operational capacity in parts of the Lake Chad Basin.
