The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three men over the alleged murder and robbery of a couple and their four children in Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The suspects were identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly attacked the family at their residence around 7pm on September 22, 2026, armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.

They allegedly stole N200,000 in cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with a chainsaw and a spraying machine.

The police said Akinbami allegedly shot the husband during the attack, while Ojo and Edward allegedly assaulted the wife by hitting her on the head.

The suspects also allegedly tied two of the children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river. The police said the other members of the family were also killed and their bodies dumped in the river.

The remains of the wife have been recovered, while efforts are continuing to recover the bodies of the other victims.

The police said detectives began investigating the case after receiving credible intelligence on October 2. Officers subsequently visited the scene, where they took photographs and recovered several exhibits.

The recovered items include the family’s Boxer motorcycle, a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club allegedly used during the attack.

According to the command, the three suspects were arrested and detained. The police said they confessed to their alleged involvement during interrogation.

The suspects and the case file will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further investigation and legal action.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed that the investigation be conducted thoroughly and that anyone found culpable be brought to justice.
