About 2,000 political stakeholders drawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party on Sunday converged on the International Conference Centre (ICC), Awka, for a joint stakeholders’ meeting convened by Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
The meeting brought together party executives, serving public office holders, political candidates and other influential figures to discuss cross-party mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Governor Soludo, who expressed satisfaction with the turnout, said the gathering was aimed at building a broad political coalition to mobilise support for Tinubu across Anambra State.
He highlighted infrastructure projects completed, ongoing and proposed by the Tinubu administration, urging residents to support the President’s re-election to sustain development efforts and attract more federal government projects to the state.
The governor also called on candidates contesting various elective positions, particularly seats in the National Assembly, to intensify their campaigns and work towards victory. He urged successful candidates to cooperate with the national assembly caucus to strengthen their capacity to attract development projects to their constituencies.
Soludo assured all candidates, irrespective of their political affiliations, of a level playing field, stressing that voters should be allowed to freely elect representatives they consider capable of delivering meaningful development.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, APC candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District and South-East Zonal Director of Election Planning, Coordination, Monitoring and Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, commended Governor Soludo for convening the cross-party engagement.
Ekwunife described the initiative as a courageous political step and reaffirmed her commitment to the mobilisation effort for President Tinubu’s re-election.
She also thanked the governor and the state chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for their roles in bringing political stakeholders together.
Ekwunife said:
“Mine is to appreciate you for taking this very courageous path, and also thank you for standing by the APC Presidential Candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for all the good works he has been doing in Anambra State.
“As a party, we are going to align with your vision of mobilising key stakeholders across party lines, in view of ensuring the victorious emergence of Mr President at the January 16th Presidential election.”
Her remarks attracted applause from participants at the gathering.
In his response, Governor Soludo acknowledged her intervention, saying: “Thank you, Iyom. Let's get it done!”
The meeting represents a significant development in Anambra State’s political landscape, bringing together stakeholders from four political parties around a common mobilisation agenda ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
