The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has warned that party leaders and stakeholders who fail to deliver their polling units, wards or constituencies in the 2027 general election may not be considered for federal appointments.
The state APC chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, issued the warning on Sunday at the party secretariat in Umuahia during a post-primary election reconciliation meeting.
Chukwu said the party would assess the performance of its leaders and members based on their contributions to the APC's electoral performance in 2027.
According to him, the results from the polling units, wards and constituencies of APC leaders and other stakeholders would be published after the election and made available to the party's national leadership.
He said the move was intended to ensure that appointments and other rewards were based on measurable contributions to the party.
“We are working out a modality where people will be rewarded according to their output. If you think you have contacts in Abuja and you lose your polling unit, ward and constituency, and you expect to be made a minister, it is impossible under this regime,” Chukwu said.
He added: “Immediately after this election, we will publish the polling units of all the leaders and stakeholders of the party. If you cannot win your polling unit, ward and constituency, you have no business being made a federal commissioner or a minister.
“Things must change, and we must follow a new order.”
The APC chairman urged members to remain united and focused on securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in Abia State in 2027.
He also warned APC House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders against supporting the interests of rival political parties at the expense of the APC.
Responding to the party's directive, APC member Sam Anya said structures had been put in place in Ohafia to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.
Meanwhile, Chukwu has inaugurated a peace committee headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
