The vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has said the opposition party is ready for the challenges of the 2027 general election and will respond to whatever President Bola Tinubu brings during the campaign.
Amaechi spoke on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, while reacting to Tinubu’s repeated confidence about securing victory in the 2027 presidential election.
The former Minister of Transportation said the president could continue to express optimism about winning, adding that the real contest would be decided during the election campaign.
“Let the president continue to tell the public that he would win the election at all cost until we get to the field,” Amaechi said.
“Whatever the president wants us to do at the field, we will do it. I’m not worried about what he wants to do. We will meet at the field.”
Amaechi also criticised the Tinubu administration, arguing that Nigeria requires immediate action to address its challenges.
“Nigeria has to be rescued. What the president and his men are doing is insulting my faith,” he said.
Amaechi, who contested against Tinubu during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022, later left the party and joined the ADC ahead of the 2027 election.
He was subsequently chosen as the running mate to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate for the election.
