The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said he would ask God why he was allowed to leave his comfort zone and venture into politics if given the opportunity to question Him.
Obi made the remark while addressing his supporters, noting that his journey in public service was not driven solely by personal ambition but by a sense of responsibility to serve the people.
The former Anambra State governor said his present position was made possible by God’s grace and that he must remain committed to using any opportunity given to him for the benefit of the public.
“I’m a politician today, but if I ever have the opportunity to question God, I would ask Him why He allowed me to leave my comfort place and get involved in politics,” Obi said.
“But wherever we find ourselves is where God wants us to be, and we must do everything we can for the benefit of the masses.
“I’m here by the grace of God and I must not abuse His grace, whether it’s in a private, corporate, or government position.”
Obi began his political career as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he served as governor of Anambra State. He later joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and became the party’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 election.
In 2022, he moved to the Labour Party (LP) and contested the 2023 presidential election, finishing third.
For the 2027 presidential election, Obi is expected to contest for Nigeria’s presidency on the platform of the NDC.
