The Anambra State Police Command has arrested Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele ‘M’, 25, described by the command as the last identified member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly led by a suspect known as “Pincode.”
Oyelu was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), following sustained intelligence gathering and investigation.
According to the police, Oyelu is linked to a 2023 kidnapping operation that resulted in the death of the victim. The command said its investigation began after the incident with the aim of identifying, arresting and prosecuting everyone connected to the crime.
The police said “Pincode” and four other suspects are already in custody at a correctional facility, where they are being remanded pending the determination of their case by the court.
The command said Oyelu will be handed over to the Correctional Centre after the completion of the ongoing investigative proceedings.
Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the operatives for their persistence and intelligence-led investigation that led to the arrest.
He assured residents of the state that the command would continue its efforts to apprehend suspects linked to criminal activities and bring them before the law.
The commissioner also called on members of the public to provide credible and timely information to the police, stressing that security requires cooperation between law enforcement agencies and residents.
