The Anambra State Police Command has provided financial assistance for the medical treatment of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly abused by his guardian in Isiowulu, Anambra State.
According to the Command, operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, offered the support after witnessing the child's condition and the severity of his injuries. The intervention is aimed at ensuring the boy receives urgent medical care and support for his recovery.
The Police said the gesture reflects their commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly children, and ensuring that victims of abuse receive the care they need.
The Command also disclosed that investigations into the alleged abuse have been intensified, with assurances that anyone found responsible will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command's commitment to working with relevant government agencies, child protection organisations, and community stakeholders to safeguard the rights, safety, and welfare of children across the state.
The Police added that they remain committed to promoting justice, protecting human rights, and enforcing laws against child abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of violence.
