A young man who was rescued from severe domestic abuse in Anambra State in 2022 is now preparing to begin university studies following years of medical care, rehabilitation, and educational support provided by the state government.

Master Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka, who was taken from a harmful environment involving his guardians three years ago, has been under the care of the First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye Soludo, since his rescue.

Speaking in Awka, she said the teenager has gone through sustained medical treatment and structured support aimed at restoring his wellbeing and education. She added that he is now ready to transition into higher education.

According to her, Chimkamnayo’s condition at the time of his rescue reflected years of neglect and physical abuse, but consistent intervention helped him recover and rebuild stability in his life.

Since 2022, he has remained in a protective environment under state support, with continued access to schooling and counseling services designed to aid his reintegration and long-term development.

She also noted that the teenager has expressed a desire to reconnect with his family. While that process is being respected, authorities say his welfare remains under close supervision, and support arrangements will continue as he moves forward academically.

Master Chimkamnayo Olisaemeka is now expected to begin university education, marking a new phase in a recovery journey that began with emergency intervention and has progressed through years of structured rehabilitation.

Officials say his case underscores the role of sustained care systems in helping vulnerable children recover from abuse and continue their education.
