Women in Elugwu Akwu community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State staged a protest on Tuesday, June 16, over the presence of sex workers in their area.

The demonstrators moved through parts of the community carrying placards and voicing concerns about what they described as increasing disruption to family life. They accused sex workers operating in the area of influencing married men and young men, alleging that some husbands were becoming less attentive at home.

Several of the placards carried strong messages calling for the removal of the women from the community, reflecting frustration among the protesters over what they believe is a growing social problem.

The protest has since generated discussion online, with reactions divided over both the concerns raised and the approach taken by the demonstrators.
