Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he often asks his wife to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s continued support for the FCT Administration.

Wike said presidential backing is crucial for ministers to effectively carry out their responsibilities, noting that his experience as a former governor and minister had shown him the importance of having the confidence and support of the President.

The FCT minister made the remarks on Tuesday, July 14, during the inauguration of the Water Supply Network to Bwari Satellite Town in Bwari Area Council.

According to Wike, a minister may struggle to deliver results without the necessary support from the President.

“I’ve said to so many people, I was a governor, and I was a minister before. You can be a minister… if you don’t have that support, it is difficult for you to perform. You must have that support,” he said.

Wike said he does not consider himself a strong prayer person and relies on his wife, whom he described as someone who prays regularly, to intercede for him and the administration.

He explained that his personal prayer is for safety each day, while his wife’s prayers focus on ensuring that President Tinubu continues to support their work.

“And that’s why, each day I wake up, I tell my wife—she prays a lot, I don’t know how to pray very well. The only best prayer I can pray is: ‘God, let me come back safely today.’ But she prays very well. I say, ‘Continue to pray that Mr President will not look away from us,’” Wike said.
