Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has said available security data indicate that Nigeria is safer under President Bola Tinubu's administration than it was eight years ago, urging Nigerians to rely on facts rather than emotions when assessing the country's security situation.
In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Omokri said, "Data shows that Nigeria is more secure under President Bola Tinubu than it was eight years ago."
He argued that public discourse on insecurity should be driven by evidence instead of political rhetoric, adding that objective security indicators provide a more accurate picture of the country's progress.
Omokri also reiterated his support for the establishment of state police, describing it as a necessary reform to strengthen security across Nigeria.
According to him, "State police will improve response to local security challenges and enhance intelligence gathering at the grassroots."
He maintained that decentralising policing would enable security agencies to respond more effectively to threats within communities.
The former presidential aide further urged Nigerians to assess government performance using verifiable facts and statistics, insisting that evidence-based policymaking remains critical to addressing the country's security challenges.
His comments come amid renewed national debate over insecurity, police reforms and calls for the creation of state police as part of broader efforts to improve public safety.
