The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the replacement of 26 National Assembly candidates following the conclusion of appeals arising from the party's primary elections.
The changes affect seven senatorial candidates and 19 House of Representatives candidates, including former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam and former House of Representatives member Gbenga Elegbeleye.
The revised list was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter jointly signed by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru.
According to the party, the replacements followed the recommendations of its Primary Election Appeal Committee, whose report was reviewed and approved by the NWC as the party's final position on the affected constituencies.
The APC said the updated list was submitted to INEC in line with the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) and the commission's regulations and guidelines.
The affected candidates are:
1. Kogi West Senatorial District: Sunday Karimi replaces Aro Samuel Bamidele.
2. Abia South Senatorial District: Prince Paul Ikonne replaces Edinburgh Uchenna Erondu.
3. Benue North-East Senatorial District: Emmanuel Memga Udende replaces Gabriel Suswam.
4. Benue North-West Senatorial District: Titus Tartenger Zam replaces Benjamin T. Aber.
5. Taraba North Senatorial District: Shuibu Isa Lau replaces Mohammed Kabir Bello.
6. Ondo Central Senatorial District: Adeniyi Adegbonmire replaces Taiwo Fasoranti.
7. Ondo North Senatorial District: Olajide Ipinsagba replaces Gbenga Elegbeleye.
8. Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency (Benue): Dickson Tarkighir replaces Ikper Chris Terfa.
9. Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency (Benue): Sesoo Ikpagher replaces Livinus Tsar Adzor.
10. Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency (Benue): Terser Ugbor replaces Kohol Shedrach Iornem.
11. Buruku Federal Constituency (Benue): Sekav Dzua Iyortyom replaces Gideon Inyom.
12. Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency (Benue): Austin Asema Achado replaces Nongo David.
13. Gashaka/Kurmi/Sardauna Federal Constituency (Taraba): Peter Abel Diah replaces Sanusi Mohammed Galadima.
14. Suleja/Tafa/Gurara Federal Constituency (Niger): Abubakar Lado Abdullahi replaces Adamu Tanko.
15. Lavun/Edati/Mokwa Federal Constituency (Niger): Adamu Suleiman replaces Adamu Usman.
16. Ekiti/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency (Kwara): Raheem Tunji Olawuyi replaces Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi.
17. Edu/Patigi/Moro Federal Constituency (Kwara): Mohammed Mamman replaces Bello Tauheed Abubakar.
18. Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency (Ondo): Donald Ojogo replaces Akingboye Leke.
19. Idanre Federal Constituency (Ondo): Festus Olarewaju replaces Rasaq Obe.
20. Owo/Ose Federal Constituency (Ondo): Oluwatimehin Akintomide replaces Kayode Ijalana.
21. Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency (Ondo): Okunjinmi John Odimayo replaces Olumuyiwa Daramola.
22. Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency (Ondo): Michel Olamidotun Akintomide replaces Abiola Makinde.
23. Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency (Ondo): Festus Ayodele Adefiranye replaces Oyerinmade Matthew.
24. Kaduna North Federal Constituency: Abdulazeez Kaka replaces Samaila Abdu Suleiman.
25. Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency (Abia): Samuel Okezie replaces Chris Nkwonta.
26. Afikpo North/Edda Federal Constituency (Ebonyi): Ekumankama Joseph Nkama replaces Iduma Igariwey Enwo.
The APC said the revised list reflects the outcome of the appeals process and constitutes the party's final submission to INEC on the affected National Assembly constituencies.
