The family of Michael Oyedokun has described his killing as a devastating loss, saying the teacher was killed without leaving a child after more than a decade of marriage.
Oyedokun, a teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele in Oyo State, was abducted during an armed attack on the school premises alongside colleagues and students. He was later confirmed killed by his abductors after reports and footage of the incident circulated online.
Speaking on the incident, a family member, Ebeni Adediran, said Oyedokun lived a quiet and disciplined life and was deeply committed to both his profession and his family.
“The deceased was a calm person and he did not like violence… He was employed as a teacher for about 21 years… He was very accommodating and always visited his parents regularly,” Adediran said.
The family also said his passing has created a significant emotional gap, noting that he had been married for over ten years without children. They described this as one of the most painful aspects of the tragedy, given his hopes for family continuity.
“He was a good man in our family and this is why his death is a big loss to us… The most painful part is that he did not leave any child behind,” the family added.
They further appealed to the public to stop sharing graphic images and videos linked to the killing, saying repeated circulation has deepened their trauma and made grieving more difficult.
