First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying she wants a better Nigeria where she can enjoy her old age.
Mrs Tinubu made the appeal on Wednesday while speaking to Catholic mothers in Imo State.
She asked Nigerians to continue praying for the President and support his administration, saying the government is working to improve the country.
“Make una pray for Mr President abeg, but we go work for una and Nigeria will be better because I want to enjoy Nigeria in old age,” she said.
The First Lady said her efforts in government were partly driven by her desire to see a better country in the years ahead.
“I’m working for my old age; that’s why we are doing all we are doing right now,” she added.
Mrs Tinubu also appealed to Nigerians to give her husband another four years in office, stressing that the administration does not intend to seek a third term.
“By the grace of God, we will all finish our eight years, because they will say I want to be there forever. There is no third term. Just give us a second term, we are good,” she said.
She further said the administration had been focused on its work since taking office and would not seek to remain in power beyond the constitutionally permitted two terms.
“We are not third term, fourth term or eighth term, we are good, because we need to rest. Because you see, from the beginning we started working, we hit the ground running and we are not stopping,” she said.
