President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her for her support throughout their years together.

In a birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, Tinubu said his wife had stood by him through difficult periods, offering counsel, prayers and support.

“Oluremi mi, today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage,” the president said.

Tinubu cited a Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning that a good wife is her husband’s crown, and also referenced the biblical description of a virtuous woman.

He said Oluremi had given those words practical meaning in his life by remaining supportive through different phases of their marriage.

“The burdens that were mine to bear often found their way onto your shoulders. The thoughts I could not put into words somehow found their way to you,” he said.

The president described his wife as someone who could offer him honest counsel, including at times when he might not want to hear it.

“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.

Tinubu also credited Oluremi with shaping their family and said their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her faith, kindness and prayers.

He highlighted her public humanitarian activities, mentioning the New Era Foundation, which she was associated with during their years in Lagos, and the Renewed Hope Initiative.

According to the president, the initiatives have supported children, widows, elderly people and women farmers, while also advocating for people affected by tuberculosis and other illnesses.

Tinubu said his wife’s compassion had extended across ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.

“A long journey teaches a man the true value of a good partner. We have travelled a long road together,” he said, recalling the difficult decisions and sacrifices they had shared.

He added: “If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you.”

The president ended the message by wishing Oluremi many more years in good health and happiness.

“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” he said.
