The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old self-styled prophet and overseer of Divine Grace Church, Nicholas Nusa, over the alleged abduction of five girls in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, who operates the church along Imoga Road in Ibillo, is also accused of allegedly impregnating one of the girls, a 15-year-old.
The police said the teenager recently underwent a Caesarean section and is receiving medical care at a hospital, where she is being supported by the Brave Heart Organisation.
According to the command, the five girls were allegedly abducted at different times from Ibillo and Imoga communities between September 2025 and April 2026 and taken to Nusa’s residence.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect was arrested after the police received information about the alleged offences.
Ikoedem said preliminary investigations indicated that Nusa had allegedly abducted the girls at different times during the period under investigation.
She added that the suspect allegedly confessed to the offences during questioning, although investigations are still ongoing.
The police spokesperson said efforts were also underway to reunite the children with their respective families.
The command said the investigation would continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abductions and other accusations against the suspect.
