Reports indicate that suspected members of Boko Haram attacked a primary and junior secondary school in Mussa village, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday, taking an unspecified number of pupils.

Local accounts say the armed group arrived on motorcycles and entered the school shortly after security personnel had left the area. Residents reported that students fled in different directions during the incident, while others were taken away.

A community member said several children were affected, though the exact number remains unclear. Authorities have not confirmed figures.

The Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed that an attack occurred. He noted that many students reportedly escaped into surrounding bushes, while details on those abducted are still being verified.

He added that the timing of the attack suggested the assailants may have monitored troop movement before striking, as the incident occurred shortly after a patrol unit left the community.

On social media, residents and users called for prayers and shared concerns over the safety of pupils following the incident.

Attempts to reach the spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command were unsuccessful as calls and messages were not returned at the time of filing this report.
