All the schoolchildren and teachers abducted during the May 15 attack on Ahoro-Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom.
The victims were kidnapped after armed men invaded the community, abducting 46 pupils, teachers and the principal of a secondary school. The incident drew widespread attention and raised concerns over the safety of schools in the state.
The abduction turned more tragic days later when one of the kidnapped teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed by the abductors.
Authorities have now confirmed the release of the remaining victims. However, details of the operation that secured their freedom, including whether any suspects were arrested, have not been made public.
