Rabiu Kwankwaso, vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has received a delegation of Igbo elders at his residence in Abuja, in a meeting centered on emerging political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso made the disclosure on Wednesday via a post on X, stating that the delegation indicated support for a proposed Peter Obi–Kwankwaso ticket under the NDC platform.

The group was led by Dr. S. N. Okeke, chairman of the Ohanaeze Council of Elders for the 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside Okwesilieze Nwodo.

According to Kwankwaso, the delegation commended the developing political relationship between him and Peter Obi within the NDC framework. They also expressed confidence in mobilising support across the South-East and other parts of the southern region.

He said discussions reaffirmed his working relationship with Obi and his commitment to what he described as the OK movement within the party.

Kwankwaso added that the NDC remains focused on positioning itself for victory in the 2027 elections.
