Francis-Xavier Sosu, a member of Ghana’s parliament, collapsed while addressing students at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra on Thursday.
Sosu was delivering a speech when he appeared to become dizzy and paused his address. In a video shared by Joy Online, the lawmaker could be seen holding on to the podium as he struggled to remain standing.
Two people subsequently approached him from the side of the hall to offer assistance. Sosu later collapsed into their arms as they helped him out of the venue.
In a statement, Ivan Dzakpasu, Sosu’s chief of staff, said the lawmaker had received medical attention following the incident.
The statement did not disclose what caused the collapse or provide details about Sosu’s condition or the treatment he received.
Dzakpasu urged the public to remain calm and refrain from relying on unverified information or speculation about the lawmaker’s health.
