A Nigerian national, Ayodeji Ajayi, is set to be removed from the United States after immigration authorities linked him to immigration violations and multiple criminal convictions during his stay in the country.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the development in a statement on its official X account. The agency said Ajayi entered the country in 2007 on a student visa but remained after he was no longer enrolled in school.

ICE stated that Ajayi was convicted of offences including domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction. It also referenced additional allegations involving kidnapping, rape, and family neglect, though it did not provide supporting details such as case files, locations, or dates.

The agency said the removal process is part of wider enforcement actions targeting undocumented migrants and foreign nationals with criminal records under the current immigration policy direction of the Donald Trump administration.

“Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly,” ICE said in its post, linking the action to ongoing deportation efforts.

The case comes amid a broader push by US authorities to intensify immigration enforcement. Arrests, detentions, and deportation proceedings have increased in recent years, particularly involving individuals without legal status or those with criminal convictions.

Official figures previously cited by US authorities indicated that thousands of Nigerians are among foreign nationals with final deportation orders.

Ajayi’s case is one of several involving Nigerian nationals facing removal from the United States over criminal convictions and immigration breaches.

ICE has not released further details on the timeline of his deportation or the specific court proceedings tied to the case.
