Police in Edo State have arrested three men suspected of involvement in a kidnapping operation linked to abductions in the Jattu community, following a chance identification by a victim at a local market.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Okoedem, the development began when a man who had earlier been abducted and later released on 13 May reported seeing one of his alleged attackers at Jattu market two days later.
Acting on the report, police operatives from the Jattu division, working with the Edo State Security Corps, moved to the location and arrested three suspects identified as Nura Dahiru, Ibrahim (surname not fully stated), Ibrahim Yakubu, and Abubakar Inusa.
The statement added that during investigation, two of the suspects—Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu—were directly identified by the victim and another witness as members of the group behind the abduction.
The police said the case remains under investigation as efforts continue to determine the full network and roles of those involved.
Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to addressing violent crime in the state and encouraged residents to share timely information with security agencies through designated emergency and complaint lines.
