President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held separate closed-door meetings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Akpabio arrived at the Villa at about 6:12pm and joined Tinubu, who was reportedly already meeting with Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation.
About an hour later, Oyetola arrived at the Villa alongside Alhassan Doguwa, a member of the House of Representatives representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State.
Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, was also seen at the Presidential Villa around the same period.
The purpose of the meetings was not immediately disclosed.
Oyetola’s visit comes days after the Osun State governorship election, in which Governor Ademola Adeleke secured re-election after a closely contested race. Oyetola previously served as governor of the state.
The meetings also took place a day before the official commencement of political campaigns for the 2027 general elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed August 19 as the start date for campaign activities.
The Federal Executive Council is also scheduled to meet on Wednesday.
