The Abia State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Mrs Sarah Innocent, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Innocent, to death during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on Saturday night at Ohuru Isimiri village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to relatives of the deceased, the couple got married in December 2025, about eight months before the incident.
The police said the matter was reported at the Ohuru Isimiri Divisional Police Headquarters on August 9, 2026.
Abia State Police spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said the suspect allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a misunderstanding.
She said the victim was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
“Scene of the crime has been visited, the corpse deposited at the morgue for autopsy and the suspect is currently in police custody,” Chinaka said.
She added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where discreet investigation is ongoing.
The police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances that led to the alleged stabbing.
