A woman identified as Blessing Ayebe has been found dead inside a toilet at the Presbyterian Church, Ikot Ansa Parish, in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to reports, Ayebe attended a church service on Sunday, June 28, but did not return home afterward.
Her body was discovered in the church toilet at about 9 p.m. on June 29. Family members said her daughter, Peace Minka Ayebe, reported the incident at the Federal Housing Police Station after receiving information from her brother, Saviour Ayebe.
The body was taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the incident. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said a preliminary examination found no visible signs of violence on the body.
He added that no suspect had been identified or arrested, as investigators had not established any evidence of foul play. Police said investigations are ongoing.
