A woman in her sixties, identified as Victoria Adegoke, was discovered dead in a bush in the Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos State, after what is suspected to be a violent attack following a church programme.

Local accounts indicate she had attended a programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry (popularly known as Ayo Jesu Church) and was returning home early on Friday morning when she was allegedly assaulted by unknown individuals.

According to residents familiar with the situation, her body was found around 6:10 a.m. A community leader said she had stayed within the area during the church event and was last seen heading home shortly before the incident.

Items recovered near the scene reportedly included her phone, ATM card, and Bible. Witness accounts suggest she was attacked along a route commonly described by locals as vulnerable to criminal activity.

Residents of the area say the corridor between Lagos and Ogun boundaries has recorded repeated cases of violent crime, raising ongoing concerns about safety for early-morning movement.

One resident said the victim’s body was discovered unclothed, adding that police later arrived at the scene and moved to secure the area.

At the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
