Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said voters of Igbo origin in the state who supported Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election will align with President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Oborevwori made the remark during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, where he addressed political alignments ahead of the next general election.

He recalled that the 2023 election in Delta State reflected strong support for Peter Obi, particularly among non-indigenous voters, noting that such dynamics would not be repeated.

According to him, engagement with community stakeholders and religious leaders has reshaped political relationships in the state.

He said the Igbo community in Delta is now politically aligned with his camp and the ruling structure at the federal level.

“The Igbo community in Delta State that voted Peter Obi in 2023 are on the same page with us. I have told them to vote for party not candidate,” Oborevwori said.

He added, “The love they have for me, I have confidence they will vote for Tinubu. The two factors that determine the 2023 election in Delta were religion and non-indigene but I have been able to manage them so we are now working together.

“What happened that time will not happen again. Before I moved to the APC, we notified our religious leaders for them to pray for us, so you can’t pray and curse at the same time.”
