The Federal Government has issued a travel advisory for the North Central region, urging commuters to exercise caution and avoid night journeys along major highways due to security concerns.

The advisory was announced on Tuesday by Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central) Abiodun Essiet.

According to the statement, travellers on long-distance routes are strongly advised to schedule movements during daylight hours. It warned that recent security concerns reported along key transport corridors in the region have made night travel more risky.

Transport operators were also encouraged to temporarily suspend night services until the situation improves. The government said the measure is intended to reduce exposure to avoidable risks and improve commuter safety while security agencies continue monitoring affected routes.

The statement further urged citizens to remain vigilant during travel and to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movement or activity along highways.

It added that public safety remains a priority and called for strict adherence to official travel and security guidance until conditions stabilize.
