A solidarity rally organised in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in Zamfara State took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when some members of the crowd were heard chanting support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The incident occurred during a solidarity walk in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, organised to celebrate the appointment of former governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar as Director-General of Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
A video from the event showed a section of the crowd chanting, “Sai Atiku,” rather than expressing support for President Tinubu.
The walk was organised by the A.A. Yari Political Organisation in collaboration with the Shehu Movement Organisation and the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju 2027.
The organisers said Yari’s appointment would strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) and boost its chances in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the event, Zamfara APC Chairman, Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, said Tinubu would secure substantial support from voters in the state in 2027.
President Tinubu recently constituted his Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election and appointed Yari as its Director-General.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara, is expected to play a key role in coordinating the President’s re-election campaign across the country.
